Age: 30
Height: 5'10"
Address: Malton, North Yorkshire
Occupation: Business Centre Manager, Forestry Commission.
Band Position: Solo Horn/Percussionist.
Player History: I began playing cornet at the age of 11 through school and Kirkbymoorside Band, changing to tenor horn a year later. I changed again to percussion (mainly kit) at the age of 15 before moving more towards tuned percussion. My most challenging and rewarding time was playing Phillip Wilby's Lowry Sketchbook at the area finals in 1997. Also in 1997 I moved to Stape Silver Band after playing as a guest at the annual contest in Scarborough. Although I am the bands tuned percussionist I frequently help out on the horn when the occasion demands. Over the years brass banding has become a great part of my life. I enjoy my work as a committee member and find the playing and social side a great stress reliever.
