OK... so brass bands are full of allotment holders wearing flat 'ats and breeding ferrets. They don't go on wild weekends all over the country (and out of it), drinking too much and cavorting around all night, they would much rather have a cup of tea......... Think again...!! .....Of course we take the musical side seriously and I quite like ferrets, but brass bands are a special kind of club, and after all the hard work..well.....?

Stape Silver Band are celebrating its 125 year Anniversary this year!
To celebrate the band will be doing events throughout the year.

Our Open Air Massed Brass Band Spectacular in Pickering was held on Saturday 1st August 2009.
The concert took place in Market Place of Pickering from 5.00pm.
Unfortunately the weather was not on our side and although the bands tried to play on we had to abandon the performance half way through due to soaked music.
Stape Silver Band would like to thank Kirkbymoorside Town Band and Swinton and District Excelsior Band for helping us in marking our anniversary!!!
Thanks also go to our loyal supports and helpers who assisted in the event.
We have received many positive comments about the event which was estimated to be watched by up to 700 people with many people wondering if we will do it all again next year!!!
