Player History: A Chance encounter with a tenor horn at school aged 11 started my brass band playing which aged 23 has already been going 12 years. I joined Stape Silver Band shortly after beginning to learn and played my first contest, Easingwold Marching contest at aged 12. Unlike many brass players within the band and banding generally I have less of a brass band history, to date whilst I have helped out a few bands when needed I have only been registered with Stape Silver Band, but have however made my way rounds a number of seats within the band. Moving up into Senior Band I started on 2nd Horn then moved over the Cornet section 2nd Cornet, Repiano, 4th man down on the front row ,2nd man down and then onto the Flugel Horn where I stayed for a couple of years. The last move about 3 years ago was into the Principal Cornet chair where I am still sat, working closely with Lauren on 2nd man down and a strong cornet team we have become part of a very successful band in 2006. After a brief break from playing I have now returned on Flugel Horn for the band. Besides playing I am a committee member & child protection officer for the band oh and I am married to the percussionist so most people would agree that this band has been and will continue to be a large part of my life.
