Euphonium. Player History: Previous to entering the world of Brass Bands at
age 13 Janette had worked her way through most of the string and woodwind
instruments at school. Never happy with these, she joined Stape Silver Band,
starting on Baritone. She gained experience on Tenor Horn and Eb Bass before
reaching the dizzy heights of Euphonium and her present position as the band's
Principal Euphonium. She has toured Germany and Holland with Lady Lumley's
School Band and Holland again with Stape Silver in 1996. Her most memorable
contest was the 1993 National Finals, playing Eb Bass with Stape Silver. Of
Brass Banding she says: " I love the fact that I have made so many good friends
through banding and that we have such a good laugh. It's a great contrast to my
professional life as a nurse where things can get extremely stressful at times.
It's good to know that, through banding, I have a large network of friends that
I can count on."
