Hello, I just thought I would drop by and let you know my good news.
I've just got my first guide dog, her name is Berry and she is a yellow labrador.
You never know I might bring her along to come and see you play at Peasholm Park
(if we can get out of Barnsley for the weekend!). I got talking to a bloke who
plays trumpet in Barnsley Co-Operative Concert Band, who lives in York, and used to
play cornet with Mike (small world). Hope everyone is ok. Beth

Hey everyone! Merry Christmas! I hope you are all ok. I thought I would just come
and say hello and let you all know what I am up to. I finished uni, got a 2:1 in Psychology
I moved to Barnsley in June, I work as a personal advisor helping disabled people get into
employment. I joined Barnsley Co-operative Concert Band (they're not as mad as you lot!) and
I am looking for a brass band that's not in the middle of nowhere. Anyone got any suggestions?
Apart from that I got registered blind and I'm on the list for a guide dog....!!! Beth

Hi this is for Gary the solo trom player. You where asking
in the brass band forum about Chorale and Toccata.
I played it two years ago at the Pilks Northern Open Contest.
It is a brilliant piece to listen to and play!
I loved the top trom part! It's high sustained in the
Choral and the Tocatta is great too. I hope you
enjoy playing this piece and wish you all the best for your contest.

Just surfing, and trying to get some of my colleagues
(who are all boring accountancy/banker/corporate finance types) to have a look
at a brass band website-they just don't understand. I thought yours was a good
example to show them to prove that banding is not actually about music or
anything remotely to do with being boring.
From someone who appreciates a
good laugh and a drink (its the only reason I continue to do it)
Please have
a look at the Whitburn site as Tricky has made a lot of effort to get this up
and running.

I live in Ripon, currently studying at Uni in
Aberystwyth Wales, play for Harrogate when I am at home. Like the web page. More
used to seeing Stape at Hardraw Scar than on the WWW. Although I am biased I
have to say Harrogate's Web page is the best of all the brass band ones but it's
nice to read about another North Yorkshire band. Reading your site has made me
pine for a decent pint of beer....there's no Theakston or Black Sheep down here.

Bert Ezard taught me Brass music in the '60s.
Anyone remember him? He played with Stape for a while. I believe his son played
with the Ted Heath Band. My love for Brass re-awoke in the '80s through Newark
Town Band, as baritone and secretary, and later Foss-Dyke which I helped to
form. I am now playing with Driffield Silver Band (Still Baritone!) (Son-in-law
conducting) and both my daughter and son-in-law also play with Cottingham.
Good Luck to Stape. Great web page!!! Although I understand fierce
competition and rivalry in sections, outwardly, like a family, Brass should
unite!

Hi from Utah, USA! I am the music director/ conductor/
play-whatever-part-is-missing substitute for the Lehi Silver Band. Our band was
formed in 1887 and was originally composed of gentlemen playing silver
instruments on a horse-drawn wagon. We are now a mixed gender group playing any
and all instruments. We still ride on a band wagon pulled by two clydesdales. We
are a rather rowdy group, although since we are mostly members of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, there aren't any hopping booze parties. Such
is life!!! We should do an exchange concert sometime!

Greetings..from Paul Watson President of the
Shepparton Brass Band in Victoria, Australia I have not long been on the
internet and when I get my kids away from it I like to see what other bands are
about. I liked your page. We are now a C grade band having just been promoted
from D grade. We average16-20 playouts per year and have about 30 players in all
when they all turn up. Our next job is a contest at a place called Ballarat,
which is about 3hrs drive from Shepparton. Ballarat South Street has been the
mecca for Brass Bands in this area for many many years. I have played soprano
and solo cornet. We have been lucky to have a good solo cornet player join us but
our b-flat bass player has left us... so guess what..I am filling in on the bass
for the competition. The test piece is called Suite for Brass by Jan
Segers.Hymn,Psalm 150 from the Salvation Army Band Journal, Eric Ball March The
Cossack Wonderful Invention No more room.
